A 15 day, 200- hour Training Immersion and Education Experience in Panama

Enjoy the tropical charm of ISTMO Yoga and Adventure while practicing yoga and meditation daily, immersed in a positive and supportive group environment. Delve deeply into your practice by devoting two weeks of your time to self-study. Learn more about the unique details of your body, the philosophy of yoga, and effective ways to instruct and share this practice with others in your community.

Your Reservation Includes:

Istmo’s menu has been lovingly crafted by owner and Chef Sean Davis, a graduate of a prominent cooking school in New Orleans, Louisiana. We offer a tropical fusion cuisine that blends influences from Latin America, Caribbean, India, Middle East, the Mediterranean, North Africa, the Far East, Southeast Asia, Cajun, Southern US, and the Pacific Rim Islands. Most of our meals are vegetarian or fish and seafood based; however, we can easily accommodate our guests who are gluten-free, vegan or require substitutions because of food allergies. -ISTMO Retreat and Adventure


Our retreat center features a beautiful 860 square foot yoga studio. The studio is surrounded by nature, has a jungle stream running around it, features beautiful tropical hardwood floors, and is filled with love. Our studio is fully equipped with yoga mats, yoga blankets, straps, blocks, yoga chairs, bolsters, and a life size anatomy skeleton for Yoga Teacher Trainings. -ISTMO Retreat and Adventure


The Devotional School of Yoga offers this 200 hour teacher training course with carefully crafted curriculum. This course includes asana practice, alignment workshop, yoga philosophy (Sutras), meditation, teaching technique, sequencing, and hands-on-assists. This training is accredited by Yoga Alliance and, upon completion, participants may register to become a YA member.

*Completion of this training, by Yoga Alliance standards, includes 20 hours of non-contact training/study that we offer in the form of an Extended Education Project due one month after immersion portion of training is finished.


You will come out of this training with

  • Knowledge of your own, unique body 

  • Knowledge of pranayama practice and technique

  • Knowledge of how to guide people safely through yoga asanas 

  • Knowledge of posture modifications, variations, and healthy alignment

  • An exploration of styles of yoga (Vinyasa, Hatha, Restorative, + more)

  • Practical application of common yoga props (blocks, blanket, strap)

  • Experience with how to build/create/sequence a mindful yoga class

  • A progressive exploration of a daily, seated meditation practice

  • Knowledge of yoga philosophy and real-life applications

  • An understanding of yoga as a modern-day profession

  • Confidence in your ability to teach and share yoga

  • Practice of safe, effective hands-on assists

  • Continued support and mentorship

You must coordinate your flight into Panama International (on June 2nd). ISTMO will provide transportation to and from airport at designated time- cost included in your package! Participants will have one day-time off as training intermission to relax, restore, or engage in fun activities, such as SUP, surfing, and nature walks. ISTMO Yoga and Adventure is located in Playa Grande, San Carlos on the Gulf of Panama. ISTMO is a tranquil destination with an extensive property that includes in-tact rain forest and is the ideal environment for yoga training and adventure.
